Personality Traits

What Are They Like When Alone? Diligent. Valentine keeps a rigid schedule even off duty, exercising every morning and working on his coursework every evening.
What Are They Like in a Group? Calm and quiet most of the time, but loud and boisterous when he drinks.
What Are They Like Under Stress? Cool and collected, rarely loosing control. Valentine is a war veteran and is used to adversity.
One Thing They Are Good At Combat (all types). Valentine was an amateur boxer in his youth, was a Starfleet security crewman and later NCO and always trained hard. He is an excellent marksman and still packs a no-joke right-hook.
One Thing They Are Bad At Singing and dancing (wait, that’s two things). Valentin loves to sing, but an audience has to be either drunk or tone-deaf (preferably both) to want to listen.
One Thing They Need Everyone to Know About Them He’s got your back.
One Thing They Never Want Known About Them He’s afraid of insects, spiders and snakes (anything creepy-crawly actually).
Worst Habit Cracks his knuckles.
Worst Fear Used to be dark and damp places (the whole creepy-crawly thing), but since the death of his wife and both of his children joining Starfleet it is burying his children.
Worst Vice Singing, very badly, and very often. Valentin sings while he works, sings while he cleans, and cannot pass up an open mic or Karaoke night.
Hobbies and Interests Despite his large size and muscular build, Valentin looks working on intricate devices. He’s studied horological for many years and is always enrolled in some watchmaking or similar class at any given time.

Currently he is working on restoring a late 19th century pocket watch and working on a class on balancing and calibrating mid 20th century Rolex self-winding watch movements.
Personal Goals To earn a Swiss certification in watch-making, retire from Starfleet and open a small vintage watch restoration business.
Why Do They Work For/With Starfleet? He joined Starfleet after high school because he had no idea what to do with his life at that time. He really still didn’t know until about 10-years-ago when his father passed down to him a family heirloom wristwatch from the 1930s that hadn’t worked in over two centuries. He was going to retire when the Klingon War started, but the war put an end to that plan.

He was retire upon the end of the war, but the death of his wife caused him to reenlist for another five years.
